The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival will take place in Blackburn Park, April 2-3, 2016. This 2-day celebration is a program of the City of Brookhaven Georgia’s Office of Tourism. The Festival is an opportunity to attract people to the City of Brookhaven, both regionally and nationally, and to celebrate community and the onset of spring. Cherry Blossom trees were planted in December of 2014, and over time will serve as a beautiful legacy for future generations. Attendees can partake in the following 2016 Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival events:
On Saturday, April 2, 2016, participants should arrive in the early morning for a 6:30am Registration at Blackburn Park located at 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road in Brookhaven, GA. Runners will begin the 5K run at 7:30am while those looking to participate in the 1K walk will start at 8:00am. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children. Awards include: overall male/female, overall male/female masters and top three in 15 different age groups.
Can your dog perform amazing tricks? The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival wants your dog to be a part of the fun! Register your companion on-site to show off their amazing skills. The show starts promptly at noon. Find the registration tent and be prepared to wow the crowd. Costume Contests will begin immediately following the Pet Parade. Awards include: Best in Show- Judges Choice, Cherry Blossom Awesome- Best Cherry Blossom themed costume, Artsy Bark- Most creative costume, Doggie Diva- Most Fabulous Costume, #SquadGoals [2+ pet/pet or pet/human combos]- Best squad costume, and Superhero Swag- Best superhero costume.
The Arts and Crafts market that will include works by artisans in various disciplines, everything from oil paintings to sculpture, from rustic furniture to hand-crafted jewelry. Staged in beautiful Blackburn Park, admission to the festival is free of charge.
A fun and interactive area for children and their parents to hang out. There will be interactive experiences geared towards movement. Musical entertainment and games are also part of the fun activities planned to captivate and entertain your child’s young mind. Featured attractions will include sand art crafts, face painters and stilt walker.
